Our director, Meritxell Gabarró, was recently interviewed on the 3/24 portal of 3Cat regarding the importance of drafting a good will to ensure an orderly inheritance transfer, respecting the testator’s wishes; avoiding conflicts among heirs and saving on taxes.

In Catalonia, 82% of people who pass away have made a will, according to data from the College of Notaries. However, there are still doubts about how to do it effectively.

Some of the topics discussed in the interview:

Dividing assets into lots, if possible

Lifetime usufruct

Executorship

Forced heirship

Disinheritance

Conditions for inheritance

Succession agreements

Planning inheritance from a tax perspective

For those who do not have a will, we always advise them to consider it and, if necessary, draft one.
For those who have already made a will, we recommend reviewing it to ensure it still reflects their wishes.
In both cases, it is essential to review and consider taxation.
Thanks to 3Cat for once again trusting Gabarró Advocats Herències to provide information on Inheritance Law, and greetings to our friends Josep Maria Valls Xufré and Ramon Pratdesaba Ricart, who were also interviewed.
